St. Anthony Hospitals announced Thursday that it received approval for funding the construction of a new, previously announced medical campus in Lakewood.
The Board of Stewardship Trustees of its sponsor, Catholic Health Initiatives, approved the funding to replace the existing 16-acre St. Anthony Central Hospital campus at West Colfax Avenue and Raleigh Street.
The hospital is considering a 30-acre site at the Federal Center near Union Boulevard and West 6th Avenue in Lakewood for possible relocation, along with an adjacent 15-acre site that would allow for additional growth.
Plans for the new campus include a 900,000-square-foot hospital with more than 330 beds, an annex building and medical office buildings. Construction on the estimated $440 million campus could commence as early as fall 2006 and be completed in 2009.
