Getting your player ready...

With all the weather problems, I was one of the lucky ones.

With a 1:20 tee time, I knew I wasn’t going to play. So, while the kids went out to a movie with their grandparents, I had a nice lunch with my wife, Jennifer, and then we went shopping at the mall, which we don’t get to do very often. There was no point in me going out to Castle Pines. I didn’t even swing a club.

I talked to some guys who had early tee times and asked them if they had spent all morning at the clubhouse. That stinks. But we’re used to that. It’s been a tough year for weather on the tour this year.

Because I grew up in Denver, guys were asking me if this kind of rain happens a lot here. I told them never. I said we’re used to snowstorms in the spring, but nothing like this. We all know what a dry July it was around here, so this rain helps everybody. It’s too bad it had to happen on the first day of The International, but we can’t be selfish.

It’s going to be interesting today with “lift, clean and place” (rules). Maybe more guys will try to reach par 5s because they can “tee up” the ball.

What’s weird is that lift, clean and place always frustrates me. I never seem to be able to give myself a good lie. I know, that sounds strange.
