British drama a royal ouch

A controversial British television drama portrays the late Princess Margaret performing sex acts and taking drugs. “The Queen’s Sister” stars Lucy Cohu as Margaret and includes scenes of oral sex, a lesbian kiss and the princess smoking “a strange cigarette” at a London party.

Francis Hopkinson, Channel 4’s senior editor for drama, told the Daily Mirror the biopic is factually correct and based on interviews and research. Margaret had a scandalous romance with World War II hero Peter Townsend in the 1950s before announcing in 1955 she would not marry Townsend because he was divorced. Margaret married photographer Anthony Armstrong-Jones, and they divorced in 1978. She died in 2002.

Madonna’s hubby reins her in after fall

That riding accident led to an argument between Madonna and her husband Guy Ritchie, the London Evening Standard reported.

Hours after being released from the hospital, Madonna wanted to sit on her horse again. Ritchie refused, a family friend said, adding, “Guy said she was too injured to even be thinking about it.” Madonna suffered three cracked ribs, a broken collarbone and a broken hand after riding a thoroughbred bay Ritchie gave his wife for her 47th birthday.

Tom Hanks to the rescue again.

The two-time Oscar winner is making friends while filming the controversial “The Da Vinci Code” in Great Britain.

While the movie has stirred debate in Catholic circles, Hanks has mingled with locals in the west England town of Lincolnshire. He’s hung out until closing time at pubs, MSNBC.com reported, and ate at a traditional inn called Wig and Mitre.

“I’m told Tom Hanks was lovely,” owner Toby Hope told the London Mirror. “His was the last table left in the restaurant at the end of the night and he was very civilized.”

50 Cent says the show must go on, and the rapper plans to continue the European leg of the “Anger Management 3” tour despite Eminem’s cancellation. A spokesperson told MTV.com the tour itinerary, scheduled to begin Sept. 1 in Hamburg, Germany, likely would change.

Meanwhile, Lord Henry Mountcharles, who runs Slane Castle in Dublin, told Irelandonline.com he is miffed Eminem dropped out of the concert expected to draw 80,000 fans on Sept. 17.

“I don’t think the Rolling Stones or U2 would cancel a section owing to nervous exhaustion,” Mountcharles said. “I think (Eminem) is a stunning artist but I don’t think he’ll get a slot in Slane again.”

Peeved parents of Southern California Pee Wee football league players accuse Snoop Dogg of using his fame and a tricked-out team bus to lure players to his new league. The Rowland Heights program has shrunk from nine teams of 5-14 year olds to just three, according to a Los Angeles Times report.

Two years ago, Snoop volunteered to help coach the Rowland Raiders, which included two of his sons. Last year, the rapper recruited several star players and the Raiders were undefeated. This year, Snoop formed the Snoop Youth Football League, offering gifts and a team bus, replete with TVs and a stereo. Snoop claims he formed the league for parents who could not afford the $175 fees.

Al Pacino has signed to play Napoleon in a forthcoming biopic. The film, based on diaries of British teenager Betsy Balcombe, a friend of the French emperor, may start production in the summer of 2006, the Sun in London reported.

The on-again, off-again relationship between Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards may be headed for a reconciliation, skynews.com’s Sandro Monetti reports. Richards, who recently gave birth to the couple’s second child, filed for divorce five months ago but has been seen wearing her diamond engagement ring again.

The couple have entered counseling and were seen together at the 65th birthday party for Sheen’s father, “West Wing” star Martin Sheen, Monetti claimed.

Victoria Beckham has nothing but nice things to say about Tom Cruise. After a recent introduction, the wife of soccer star David Beckham, told Spanish magazine Chic, “(Cruise) said a lot of things that really impressed us. Not because it’s Tom Cruise, but because he’s terribly intelligent.”

This is the same interview in which the former Spice Girl admitted she had never read a book.
