ONE THIRD
OF THE WAY UP
LFT
1428 Larimer St., Denver
One piece of the chic three-in-one retail idea
pioneered in Dallas called LFT (say: “Lift”) opened in Larimer Square on Tuesday, in a storefront stocked with mod Ted Baker threads. The men’s collection feels a bit like a Londoner’s take on the dress-up cowboy shirt. Look for the racks at Octane, in the loft at Ted Baker, to be filled with high-end denim next, and the doors on near-couture Premium 93 later in the month.
FUSION BARBECUE
… NO, SERIOUSLY
Hillbilly Barbecue
215 Main St., Longmont
Slow-smoked meats served up quick. Don’t be asking St. Louis or Kansas City, though. This is fusion-style ‘cue served up by Pete McLaughlin and Tripp Lindley, the boys who bring you fine Caribbean fusion across the alley at Tortuga’s. Mop your bones with six different sauces, from Sweet Lou to Hillbilly Hellfire. Choose two from a menu of eight sides, but make sure your selections include the tooth-crackingly crisp fried okra. And go ahead and wash it all down with a sweet tea.
NEW SPACE DRINK
IN A NEW SPACE
Nine75
975 Lincoln St., Denver
In a liquid nod to the
concept of comfort food, Nine75, which filled the void in the Beauvallon where Moda flamed out, has taken Tang to a frosty new high with the (Tang) Tini ($7.95, $3.95 during happy hour.) Absolut vodka, triple sec, Tang and Sprite served up cold in a glass rimmed in the tangy orange powder. Makes you kind of pity the poor astronauts who still start their days by stirring water into a pouch labeled “orange drink.”
