Yonder Mountain String Band has announced the dates and site of its annual two-day New Year’s Eve Extravaganza. Of course, there are no surprises. It again will be Dec. 30 and Dec. 31 at the Fillmore Auditorium. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 30, $25; Dec. 31, $50, and both days, $65, Ticketmaster).
Bernadette Peters, Peter Nero and Hilary Hahn are among the artists who will appear with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra between Nov. 27 and Feb. 24. This is the second series of CSO concerts to go on sale. This group goes on sale at 10 a.m. today ($15-$75, Ticketmaster or www.coloradosymphony.org).
McCoy Tyner, who is coming to Denver, and Bill Evans have been “the most influential pianists in jazz over the past 50 years,” Scott Yanow writes on allmusic.com. Among Tyner’s credentials is his membership in the legendry John Coltrane quartet, which also featured drummer Elvin Jones and bassist Jimmy Garrison. Still going strong at age 66, Tyner brings his trio to the Paramount Theatre on Jan. 22. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday ($32.50-$45, Ticketmaster).
Pete and Joan Wernick, Nick and Helen Forster, and Molly O’Brien and Rich Moore are set to kick off the third season of High Street Concerts. The “First Couples of Colorado Bluegrass” takes place Oct. 8 at Rogers Hall in Lyons. Tickets are on sale. ($15), 303-817-6144).
Keith Sweat is set to release his new CD, “The Velvet Room,” the last week of this month. About seven weeks later, the R&B star plays the Gothic Theatre on Nov. 13. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday ($48.50, Ticketmaster).
