Last meeting

Jaguars won 27-24 at Indianapolis on Oct. 24, 2004

Who knew

The Colts play in a dome, so it gets loud in there, right? Not necessarily. Despite the presence of the league’s most exciting offense, they ranked 30th in the league in attendance in 2004, ahead of only the Raiders and Cardinals. That’s because the RCA Dome is one of the NFL’s smallest stadiums.

Spotlight on

Peyton Manning. This just in. Archie’s kid is, like, really good. But what’s up with only two TD passes last week? Look for three, maybe four today. … Manning in seven games vs. Jax: 17 TD passes, four INTs. … Manning makes a mistake once a month whether he wants to or not. He threw 10 INTs last season, 39 fewer than his TD total, and began this one with no INTs against the Ravens’ nasty D.

Etc.

You don’t suppose the Indy coaches reminded the players last week about the Colts’ 2004 home loss to Jags, do you? Nah, didn’t think so. … Defeat was Colts’ only L at home all season, including playoffs. … Jags’ Jimmy Smith could be the most underrated WR in the bid’ness. He had seven catches for 130 yards, two TDs in opener. Not only that, he led the loop last season with 467 receiving yards in the fourth quarter. … You know, for a No. 3 receiver, Colts’ Brandon Stokley isn’t half-bad. Dude had seven catches, 83 yards in opener. … Jags 5-2 vs. the line as a road underdog in ’04. … Jags plus-5 in turnovers in opener, Colts plus-4. … Think the Colts might slip this season? Then you haven’t checked out their schedule. They’ll break a bigger sweat in their bye week than they will the rest of the season. Their next three games are against Cleveland, Tennessee and San Francisco.

Prediction: Colts 37, Jaguars 19
