Golden – An arrest warrant was issued today for an Arvada woman who allegedly let a 14-year-old drive an SUV that crashed and seriously injured several people.

Silvia Johnson, 41, missed a sentencing date last week in Jefferson County. She had pleaded guilty to supplying alcohol to teenagers and having sex with two teenage boys. She told police she did it because she wanted to be a “cool mom.”

The day before she was to be sentenced, Johnson was the only adult in a 2005 Jeep Liberty with four children that crashed on Interstate 25 near Castle Rock.

Johnson, who underwent surgery Wednesday, is expected to be released from the hospital Friday and taken into custody.

District Court Judge Peter Weir revoked Johnson’s bond in her sex assault case at a hearing today and set new bonds totaling $550,000.

Johnson violated parole in the sex assault case because two of her children, a 14-year-old daughter and 11-year-old son, were in the Jeep. She was barred from having contact with them.

Two friends of Johnson’s children were also in the Jeep, a 12-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl.

The 14-year-old friend was the only person to escape serious injury and the only one wearing a seat belt.

The Jeep, which was heading north on I-25, went airborne for 137 feet and rolled “end-over-end” for 88 feet, according to an arrest affidavit. The 11-year-old was ejected.

After the crash, investigators with the Colorado State Patrol found a marijuana pipe in Johnson’s “belongings” at the hospital, according to court documents.

The state patrol is still investigating and it will turn over its report to Douglas County prosecutors.

Johnson faces up to 58 years behind bars for crimes committed at her former Arvada home where she threw parties with alcohol and had sex with the boys between fall of 2003 and Labor Day 2004.

Her new sentencing date is scheduled for Nov. 14.

Johnson could face additional charges stemming from the Jeep crash, including multiple child abuse counts.
