Yom Kippur Services

B’nai Chaim|B’nai Chaim, a Reform Jewish Congregation, is having Yom Kippur services at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. Thursday.

B’nai Havurah|B’nai Havurah, the Colorado Reconstructionist Federation, is having a Kol Nidre service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at New Covenant Christian Church, 825 Ivanhoe St., Denver. A Yom Kippur service will be at 9:30 a.m. and a Neilah service will be at 6 p.m. Thursday. For tickets, call 303-388-4441.

Congregation Beth Shalom|Congregation Beth Shalom, 6116 S. Pennsylvania St., in Centennial is having Yom Kippur services at 6 p.m. Wednesday and at 9:30 a.m. Thursday. A children’s service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday. Another Yom Kippur service will be from 5 p.m. to sundown, ending with a light dairy “break the fast.”

Judaism Your Way|Judaism Your Way is having a Yom Kippur/Kol Nidre service at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Hudson Gardens, 2288 W. Maplewood Ave., Littleton. A Yom Kippur/Day service and activities will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday. A “fast-breaker” potluck will follow the Thursday services and activities.

Beth Ami-Colorado Congregation for Humanistic Judaism|Beth Ami-Colorado Congregation for Humanistic Judaism, is having a Yom Kippur service and break-the-fast potluck dinner at 6 p.m. Thursday at Aspen Village, 150 Quebec St., Denver.

Temple Micah|Temple Micah, a Reform Jewish congregation at 2600 Leyden St., Denver, is having a family service for Yom Kippur at 9 a.m. and a “regular” service at 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Teenagers will lead a Yom Kippur service at 3:15 p.m. Thursday. Neilah will be at 5:45 p.m. Take a shofar if desired.

Sunday

Animal blessing|University Park United Methodist Church, 2180 S. University Blvd., Denver, is having a “Blessing of the Animals” at 4 p.m. Sunday.

“40 Days of Purpose” campaign|St. John’s Lutheran Church, 700 S. Franklin St., Denver, is having a “40 Days of Purpose” event, based on the book, “The Purpose-Driven Life,” by Rick Warren. The event will be at the 8 and 10:30 a.m. services beginning today. Small groups will meet at 9:15 a.m. Sundays.

Monday

National Coming Out Day Vespers|The First Unitarian Society of Denver, 1400 Lafayette St., Denver, is having a “National Coming Out Day Vespers” service at 7 p.m. After the service will be a reception and a screening of the locally produced documentary, “Proud Alumni,” a project of Denver University media-studies professor Sheila Schroeder.

Wednesday

Ministry conference|”Fire in the Rockies,” a three-day conference with a Ministry Fair and speakers, including the Rev. Darlene Bishop, the Rev. Dennis Leonard, Archbishop Veron Ashe, evangelist Arthur Blessit and musical guest the Rev. Clint Brown, will be through Oct. 14 at Heritage Christian Center, 9495 E. Florida Ave., Denver.

Thursday

“Being the Church” talk|Father Richard McBrien, professor of theology at the University of Notre Dame, will give a presentation, “The Challenge of Being the Church Today,” at 7 p.m. at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, 3350 White Bay Drive, Highlands Ranch. Cost is $10.
