If you just can’t get enough buffalo, then the Tommyknocker Brewery in Idaho Springs is your place. Bison is all over the brewpub’s menu: buffalo burritos, tacos, nachos, burgers, steaks and chili. Add in the always-tasty suds on tap at Tommyknockers and you’ve got a beery buffalo bazaar in the historical Placer Inn, where miners first began dining almost 150 years ago. With less fat and more protein, buffalo promises a healthier option to plain ground beef, which plays a distant second fiddle to bison on the menu. Wash back the typical but tasty bar fare with a vast selection of hand-crafted beers. You can’t miss with a buffalo chili burger and a pint of Imperial Nut Brown Ale.
Get there — 1401 Miner St., Idaho Springs.
