Coward in the spotlight

How can a respected medium like The Denver Post showcase the thug Todd Bertuzzi in glowing perspective in your sports pages? The gutless NHL, and most of the media, have looked the other way and want to put the Bertuzzi/Steve Moore “incident” behind them.

It sickens me to see this coward playing, let alone being showcased as some returning star. This scumbag executed a premeditated, cowardly attack, put a young man out of hockey and ended what looked to be a promising career. Way to go, DP. Send a wonderful message to our young, developing hockey players that you can perform any criminal act as long as it’s done on the ice. Under any other circumstance, Bertuzzi would be fighting to stay out of jail.

The only good thing is, this article wasn’t written by a Denver Post writer. It drives me crazy when cherry-pie crust, elementary sports people desecrate my game. Todd Bertuzzi will always be referred to by this hockey player as a “coward/thug” who is a disgrace to the NHL. Of course, one can understand this “goon” once you understand who he plays for.

Editor’s note: Powers was the goalie on the 1968 and 1969 national champion Denver Pioneers.

Lions are turkeys

Can someone please explain to me why we have to endure another year of at least one mediocre football game on Thanksgiving? I understand tradition, but Detroit is one of the worst NFL franchises in history. I am sure it is written somewhere that Detroit shall host a Thanksgiving game until the end of time. Maybe someone at the NFL will get wise someday and fix what’s wrong with Thanksgiving football (i.e. Detroit) and give us something better to watch.
