Fort Collins – Vanessa Espinoza scored a game-high 19 points Sunday as the Colorado State women’s basketball team defeated Portland University 70-58 at Moby Arena.
Lindsay Thomas added 14 points for CSU while Melissa Dennett was the only other Ram in double figures with 13.
The Rams (4-1) jumped to a 14-point lead before the Pilots finally scored.
“We came out really well,” Thomas said. “We needed to maintain our energy and get through the first half and I think we did that.”
The Rams maintained their fast start throughout the first half, taking a 37-27 lead at the half. CSU shot a 55 percent from the field in the first half, but cooled in the second half, shooting just 32 percent from the floor.
Wyoming 62, DU 47
Sophomore forward Hanna Zavecz scored 20 points to lead Wyoming (4-1) at Hamilton Gymnasium.
Sophomore forward Sara Benham led DU (1-4) with 15 points on 6-of-12 (.500) shooting and grabbed eight rebounds.

Regis 74
Shannon Harvey scored a game-high 18 points and the visiting Yellowjackets made 26-of-29 free throws to hold off Regis (5-2).
Jenny Langford scored 17 points for the Yellowjackets (3-4), who led 38-26 at halftime and never gave up the lead.
Lindsay Viall led Regis with 17 points and Diana and Denise Lopez totaled 16 points each.

Cornell College 40
Ashley Gronewoller scored 14 points, Julie Marshall and Iva Tomova added 13 each and the Mines defense limited visiting Cornell College to 14.7 percent second-half shooting (5-of-34) in improving to 3-2.

Katie Maguire and Kelli Staley combined for 43 points as Buena Vista evened its record at 3-3 with a victory over Colorado College (4-3) at Volk Gym in Golden.
