Christopher Lai is a senior at Denver Christian High School.

In July, Christopher traveled to Holland, where he represented the United States as a baseball player in the People to People Sports Ambassador Program. Christopher was nominated by past teachers, coaches and friends, and his team came home with the bronze medal.

Christopher earned a varsity letter in baseball last year and a letter in golf this year.

He is active in the local community and has volunteered his time to local and national charities, getting his classmates involved in the process. Events he has volunteered at include the Cherry Creek Sneak, United Way’s Turkey Trot and MS Walk.

Christopher also is a musician and plays in both the jazz and symphonic bands. He traveled with the symphonic band to a festival in Branson, Mo., where he played the saxophone.

Currently, he is enrolled in honors poetry and is taking advanced-placement classes in physics, chemistry and calculus. He has a 4.278 weighted grade-point average.

The President’s Education Awards Program presented Christopher with a certificate of Outstanding Academic Excellence signed by the U.S. secretary of education and President Bush in 2002.

After graduation, Christopher plans to pursue a double major in engineering.
