A Denver police detective is under investigation for leaving threatening voice messages for his ex-girlfriend, authorities said.
Undercover narcotics Detective Damon Bolden faces charges of harassment. The Police Department has put Bolden on paid administrative leave while it conducts an internal investigation.
In addition to a criminal complaint, the accuser also filed a restraining order application against Bolden last month.
In the application, she calls Bolden an ex-boyfriend and describes in detail the threats she said he made.
The woman said Bolden left a number of messages on her telephone voice-message system on Nov. 13. In the restraining order application, the woman said he led her to believe he was outside her house.
She also said Bolden “spoke of using a weapon, both a gun and knife.”
She said he also told her to keep “your lights off and your head down. … I am going to get my cousin to come and cut you thru … the back.”
The woman also said Bolden said to “come out on the porch, I … am about to shoot your house up.”
The court records do not indicate why the alleged threats were made. Bolden could not be reached for comment.
If convicted of the misdemeanor charge, Bolden could lose his job.
