Glenwood rockslide cuts eastbound I-70 to one lane

Glenwood Springs – A rockslide in Glenwood Canyon on Sunday morning reduced the flow of traffic on eastbound Interstate 70 to one lane. Colorado Department of Transportation officials said it could take up to a month to make repairs to the bridge deck.

“We had some large boulders come down” and damage the roadway, said CDOT spokeswoman Mindy Crane, who added that no vehicles were hit or motorists injured in the incident.

While eastbound I-70 is reduced to one lane of traffic, no vehicles wider than 17 feet will be allowed on the highway through the canyon, Crane said. Motorists can expect delays at times while the lane restriction is in effect.
