Gold Run Triathlon

More Taste of Vail chefs

The 16th annual Taste of Vail will be April 5-8. The festival has expanded its guest chef program to include three nationally recognized participants: Rick Moonen of restaurant rm at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas; Martin Noguiere of one sixtyblue in Chicago; and Jennifer Jasinski of Rioja in Denver. Each will host a Chef Showcase Dinner at a Vail Valley restaurant during the festival. The Colorado Lamb Cook-Off will be April 5 on Gore Creek Drive in Vail Village. The Apres-Ski Tasting, “Life Beyond Chardonnay, Cabernet and Merlot” and the “Cigar Seminar” will be April 6. The signature event, “The Mountaintop Gourmet Picnic,” will be April 7. Other events include a chocolate seminar, a cocktail “mix-off,” a grand tasting, and dance and auction. This year, more than 6,000 attendees and volunteers and 54 wineries are expected to participate, along with chefs from three dozen restaurants in the Vail Valley. “Magical History Tour”

Thunderbird Lodge in Canyon de Chelly National Monument in Chinle, Ariz., is offering a “Magical History Tour,” package available April 1-Oct 31. The Magical History Tour features two nights in the historic Thunderbird Lodge, continental breakfast for two each morning, a 10 percent discount in the gift shop, a canyon tour for two people and a copy of a 46-minute video, “Canyon de Chelly: American History, Heritage and Tradition.” The two-night package with a half-day tour is $330.
