As the families who frequent it know, a visit to the Children’s Museum of Denver is always an adventure. So too is its annual Birthday Bash. Just as the innovative exhibits and activities educate and delight their sons and daughters every day, the Birthday Bash, with a theme that changes every year, gives the moms and dads a fun way to support this valuable community resource.
Diamonds on the Rocks is the theme for the 2006 Bash, and plans for the June 2 event were revealed when Michael and Mandy Gallagher opened their home for a kickoff party that played off the benefit’s glamorous side. The 100-plus guests – mostly committee and museum board members – were treated to food by Baldoria Catering and the informal modeling of spring styles from Andrisen Morton accented by jewelry from Tiffany & Co. Cherry Creek.
Co-chairs Kathy Coors and Katrina Benes announced that while Diamonds on the Rocks is at the museum, the patron party will involve a different kind of diamond, one involving baseball. Home plate at Coors Field is the setting for this thank-you fete on May 12.
In addition to raising money, the Birthday Bash marks the start of the museum’s 33rd year. Coors and Benes said their goal is to sell at least 700 tickets and that sponsors to date are Wells Fargo Private Client Services; Tiffany & Co.; the Hogan and Hartson and Davis Graham and Stubbs law firms; and United Airlines. They also pointed out that the Birthday Bash has raised about $1.3 million since 2002.
Those attending the kickoff included Children’s Museum board members Rebecca Gart and her husband, Ken; Monica Liley; Hogan and Hartson partner David London and his wife, Nell; Doc One Solutions President Keith Montoya; Sarah Alijani and her husband, Dr. Todd Alijani; and DMCVB Vice President Dan McGill. Also, former Birthday Bash chair Sarah Anschutz Hunt; Liz Arnold; Jill and Bruce Dines; Eileen Morton and John Jasper from Andrison Morton; Brandie and Clark Seccombe; and Kate Williams.
