Roger Turek, well-known front-of-the-house guy from Morton’s to Sullivan’s, had a nice time at his rustic cabin near Idaho Springs last week. Real nice.
He was listening to Lewis & Floorwax on the radio and heard that Playboy was in Boulder trolling for coeds to pose in its Women of the Big 12 issue. The mag also sought some good locations to shoot the beauts.
Knowing that his cabin was cuter than a bearskin rug, Turek’s wife, Diane Turek, said, “We gotta call.”
They did. Playboy came out and gave it a look-see, and before you could say “airbrush,” a crew of fotogs and makeup artists were on site with Jesse the Coed.
“The theme was snow camping,” said Roger. “It had snowed the night before, the creek had a little ice on it. Nothing says ‘Colorado’ like it does right here.”
Jesse and a few goose bumps posed for the camera all day as Roger and Diane sat around and admired the skill of the foto pros.
“It was very interesting, I’ll tell you that,” said Roger. “They seemed to take a long time with makeup and hair. She looked absolutely stunning.”
The Playboy people liked it so much they told the Tureks it might be the lead photo of the feature. It’s due to run in the October issue.

Make it Max
Vanna White knows her ABCs – and her couture.
“Wheel of Fortune” is in Denver taping 15 shows March 24-26. Five shows a day. And White will be dressed in cool threads from Max.
Seems White’s stylist knew of Max. “She heard it was the best store in the country,” says owner Max Martinez. “Not to toot my own horn.”
The shows will have three themes – “Great Outdoors Week” (celebrating Denver), “College Week” and “Mom & Me Week.”
Martinez and L.A. stylist Roberta Wagner will pull White’s outfits on Friday, going for Diane von Furstenberg, Chloe, Lanvin and Narciso Rodriguez.
“Everything from casual to evening wear,” says Martinez.
He’ll get a “big fat credit” for his three stores at the end of the show. In December, make that four stores. In addition to Denver, Boulder and Aspen, he’s opening up a Max in Vail at the end of this year.
