Colorado Mammoth forward Gavin Prout led the National Lacrosse League in point production in March and was named NLL player of the month Thursday.
The Mammoth team captain scored nine goals with 24 assists in five games, including a three-game win streak that secured a playoff berth for Colorado (8-5).
Prout ranks second in the NLL in assists with 52. He needs five in the last three regular-season games to tie his team record of 57 assists in 2004.
Meanwhile, the status of Mammoth goaltender Gee Nash will be determined tonight at a practice in Buffalo in preparation for Saturday’s game against the Bandits.
“We think he’ll be OK to play,” Mammoth general manager Steve Govett said.
Nash suffered a concussion when he was hit in the front of his helmet by a high-speed shot in the second quarter of Sunday’s 16-11 win over Arizona. He was replaced by Chris Levis.
The Eastern Division-leading Bandits have won five straight to boost their record to 9-4.
They are led by 37-year-old John Tavares, who surpassed Mammoth coach Gary Gait as the NLL’s career scoring leader this season. Tavares has 1,110 points to Gait’s 1,091.
Mark Steenhuis leads the Bandits with 32 goals, and goalkeeper Steve Dietrich has an NLL-leading 10.04 goals-against average.
