Coronado’s Henry Cejudo became one of the few high school wrestlers to win a national title when the 19-year-old captured the 121-pound freestyle division at the U.S. National Wrestling Championships in Las Vegas.
Cejudo got a takedown with 1:17 left in the third period and defeated Matt Azevedo of Arroyo Grande, Calif., 6-4.
The high school senior, who recently won his fourth straight prep state title, dominated a 16-man field, all of whom had significant college and international experience. Cejudo went 4-0 in the event and only trailed once – after the first period against Azevedo.
“You see a lot of Russian wrestlers winning titles at 18, 19 and 20,” Cejudo said. “Why can’t I do it?”

USC’s White to visit Steelers, Cowboys
A torn hamstring won’t keep LenDale White from meeting with NFL teams. White, the former Denver South and Chatfield High School star running back who went on to break the career touchdown record at the University of Southern California, will visit with two NFL teams this week.
Hobbled throughout the offseason with a tender right hamstring, White will visit the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday and the Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday, according to his uncle and professional adviser, Herman White.
