A former Poudre Fire Authority division chief is under arrest on child pornography charges.
This morning, Larimer County authorities announced the investigation of Ron Uthmann, 58. It began in early 2006, based on information from those who’d seen pornographic images on Uthmann’s computers while he was working with the Poudre Fire Authority.
Uthmann’s work computers were seized, and analyzed by a forensic detective from Fort Collins Police Services.
Authorities do not believe that Uthmann created any of the images of children, but that he exchanged them with others over the Internet.
Uthmann now lives in Mesa County, where he was arrested on Monday by Grand Junction police.
He’s facing three counts of sexual exploitation of children, including two felonies for distributing images and a misdemeanor for possession.
His bail has been set at $25,000.
