Getting your player ready...

This month is the cruelest for Denver Broncos fans.

April, of course, brought the NFL draft. May brought a two-week quarterback camp, which ended last week with a preview of the draft’s 11th overall selection, .

June, however? June is dry as dirt. Not even NFL Europe can nurse the hangover, having wrapped up World Bowl XIV on Saturday.

There’s only one resort: group therapy.

The Broncos play host to their fourth annual Fan Fair on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Invesco Field at Mile High. The lovefest includes: autograph sessions, photo opportunities, contests, raffles, memorabilia booths, field activities and highlight films.

From the columns

“Hockey guys must be grinding their dentures with frustration and squeezing sticks in anger. When the Avalanche went looking for a new general manager, the local NHL team hired an accountant. A bean counter?”

From the mailbags

“I think the biggest thing this offseason is whether Blake will be back or not. I think it’s going to be a 50-50 proposition myself. I think Blake won’t sign anything with the Avs until he sees what some offers are around the league.”

From the message boards

“Will Marc Crawford Have Success In Los Angeles? I don’t know if any of us have spoken to this issue yet, so here goes. I’m not a fan of Crawford’s coaching style, except for the run-and-gun offence.” — BC Boy
