Fifteen Canadian energy companies pitched their wares and services Thursday to Colorado’s energy industry as part of a bilateral trade initiative.
While no immediate deals resulted from the marketing foray, officials said the event sets the stage for business partnerships between energy companies in Colorado and Alberta.
The trade mission was the reciprocal part of a visit last year to Calgary by Colorado business and government officials.
“We have American clients on the Canadian side of the border. Now we’re here to see what’s going on, see what the opportunities are,” said Vance Korver of Red Flame Hot Tap Services Ltd., a pipeline-services firm based in Red Deer, Alberta.
Colorado and Alberta are viewed as compatible business partners because both have fast-growing natural-gas industries.
“As energy prices have rapidly increased, we’ve seen a growing demand in the Denver area for innovative technologies that reduce costs,” said Monica Heron, senior trade commissioner for the Consulate General of Canada in Denver. “Canadian technology companies are poised to help meet these demands.”
