A suspect in an early-morning homicide Tuesday in Westminster was found dead, apparently by his own hand, in the foothills southwest of Boulder later that day.

Peter Nguyen, 22, was found dead at the top of a climbing formation know as Crown Rock at about 5:40 p.m. after his car was discovered just off Flagstaff Road, said Boulder sheriff’s Lt. Phil West.

The body was identified by Westminster investigators, West said.

An 18-year-old man was shot to death during an early-morning confrontation near an apartment-complex pool in Westminster.

Angelo Martinez was pronounced dead after the 2:20 a.m. shooting at Cedar Bridge condominiums, 11100 Alcott St., said Westminster police spokeswoman Stephanie Topkoff.

Authorities were looking for Nguyen, who allegedly fired at least one shot, Topkoff said. The two men knew each other, police said.

After the shooting, four friends helped the bleeding Martinez walk to a car. It was unclear whether they were headed to a hospital, she said.

Police were called on a complaint of loud revelers near the complex’s hot tub, Topkoff said. While police were on their way to the apartments, another caller reported a gunshot, she said.
