An early morning shooting near Cherry Creek in Glendale on Monday left one person dead, police said.
Glendale officers responded to the fatal shooting in the 5000 block of East Mississippi Avenue shortly after 2 a.m. Monday, police department spokesperson Cmdr. Megan Gillis said.
Several people were detained in connection with the shooting, which is being investigated as a homicide, according to a news release from the police department. The circumstances surrounding the shooting and events leading up to it remain under investigation.
Police did not specify how many people had been detained Monday.
The victim will be identified by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.
There is no ongoing threat, but the public is asked to avoid the area as the investigation continues, police said in the release.
