Where’s John O’Hurley when we need him? Where’s Rachel Hunter?
Denver is mounting its own version of “Dancing With the Stars.” It’ll be called “Dancing for a Cause” and come down Oct. 7 at the Seawell Ballroom. Local bold names will take 18 hours of dance lessons, then strut their stuff in front of judges and peers. It’ll raise money for Colorado Neurological Institute.
The bold names involved in this are bold indeed. The judges are Colorado Expression publisher Terry Vitale, dancer Cleo Parker Robinson and Denver Center Theatre Company artistic director Kent Thompson.
The celeb dancers will get the lessons from Colorado Dancesport, along with costumes. Yikes! Men on the floor will include Les Shapiro, Steve Rosdal and
Douglas Kerbs. The dames include Janet Elway, Judi Wolf, Jamie Angelich, Joyce Moses and Sharon Magness Blake.
Every night I go to bed without having danced, I thank God. But these people are up for it.

Gregg and Terre Marshall are selling my Cherry Creek dream house and moving to the sticks. They want $2.4 million for it, but I’m trying to talk them into lowering the price $2 million and carrying the note at 2 percent for 75 years. “We can talk about that,” Gregg says.
The pad is a hidden jewel in the Creek. It lies behind Heather Smith’s Bella Fiore Spa and Starbucks on the corner of East Third Avenue and Clayton Street. You walk up some steps to an old Portuguese door, which opens onto a huge patio, fountains and a swimming pool. The entrance to the main house is off the patio, with three bedrooms, six bathrooms, wine cellar, a four-car garage. You simply cannot believe this pad is in the middle of town.
So why move to Boulder County? “Oh, the things we do for love,” says Marshall. He and his wife are retired (Gregg was CEO at Sygma, a food supplier for restaurants; Terre worked for the White House). And he says the Boulder ranch is “a pretty cool place.”
But can he walk downstairs to Starbucks?
“The only things I can walk to are farm animals,” Gregg says.
He worked on this urban oasis for seven years – and it kept him sane when he was single. “I hate to give it up. It was something to do. It kept me out of the bars.”
It wouldn’t keep me out of the bars, but it sure would make me happy. You can check it out at at jon-snyder.com.
