I know where I’m not going to be on Aug. 17 – on Fillmore Plaza for the casting call for “Supernanny.”
The ABC series is sending its producer Andy Hirsch to Denver to find families to appear in the next season of the show – which places a strict English nanny into the house of a totally dysfunctional family to whip the whippersnappers into shape.
I’ve seen the show – and witnessed some of the worst behavior in kids I’ve ever seen. They’re monsters.
“Tell me about it,” says
Hirsch. “You see screaming and kicking and whining and hitting and spitting and barking.”
Now I’m not saying Denver has rotten kids – but I bet some real bad seeds show up for the auditions. So be afraid, people. And if your kids are truly unruly, get over there.
Hirsch says “Supernanny” can help.
Tattoo you
Al Markove, the former owner of Paul’s Place who turned 70 this year, is sporting a huge new full-color tattoo on his left shoulder. It’s a picture of his wife, Lauren, and his doggie, Hercules. And it’s one big tat.
“I thought it would be cool and show (my wife) how much I love her,” he says. “She thinks it’s cool too.”
Is this just the beginning of Al’s tattooing?
“People laugh at it,” he says. “I’m really happy I did it, but that’s it. No Harley, no chains, no whips, no nuttin’.”
The bully’s back
Local writer Harry McLean awaits the re-release in December of his award-winning, true- crime best seller “In Broad Daylight.” It’s the story of a small town where the citizens rise up against the town bully. He’s murdered in broad daylight. It’s still a cold case – but with more than 45 eye-witnesses who maintain a code of silence. The book has some new info and evidence – marking the 25th anniversary of the killing. The TV movie starred the perfectly cast Brian Dennehy.
