PUSHPINS WITH ERGONOMIC DESIGN: Nice to know that not all high-tech noodling is lost on big-ticket items. Take the handy TAK Brand Pushpins, a concept that furthers the most common of office supplies. The head of the TAK is bigger and easier to grab, and the second prong makes it stronger and more stable than its predecessor. Packs of TAK Brand Pushpins are available for $4 to $50 at ideationdesigns.com.
AVANT-GARDE FURNITURE SPACE TAKES OFF:P Design Gallery, located at 2590 Walnut St. in Denver, is the furniture store and gallery behind the funky online retail site (pdesigngallery.com). Next month, this showroom opened by a world-weary, art-minded couple will host an exhibit featuring Jason Miller, the breakout Brooklyn designer who has worked alongside Karim Rashid and Jeff Koons. Miller’s show opens Sept. 15 and runs through Nov. 4. P Design is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
THE GIFT THAT KEEPS ON GROWING: Admit it. You want a Chia Pet. The ch-ch-chia gift is not too hard to find – particularly around the holidays. But anyone who has owned one will tell you that these shaped and planted characters tend to lose their looks pretty fast. Enter Grow-a-Head, a new take on the potted follicle concept. These little characters grow real grass hair so thick it’s intended to be trimmed, shaped and accessorized. They can be customized with little signs and greetings. Makers also laud their creation as being a fun way to get kids into planting. They sell for $10 to $12 at Grow- a-Head.com.
