The 17th Kappa Book and Author Dinner, a fundraiser for the Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumnae Association of Denver, will be held Sept. 26 at the Denver Marriott Tech Center. Most of the proceeds go to the Harry Hahn Scholarship of Craig Hospital.
Four authors, T.A. Barron, Douglas Brinkley, Robert Harris and Harley Jane Kozak will speak at the dinner and be available for book signings before and after the event.
The evening begins with a patrons’ party at 5:30 with the authors on hand. Dinner starts at 7 p.m.
A Colorado author, Barron’s latest work is a trilogy called “The Great Tree of Avalon.” For children as well as adults, the book was a New York Times bestseller. He collaborated with photographer John Fielder on “Rocky Mountain National Park: A One Hundred Year Perspective” and “To Walk in Wilderness.”
Brinkley’s latest book is “The Great Deluge,” a comprehensive look at New Orleans and the Mississippi and Alabama coasts in the week following Hurricane Katrina. Brinkley is a professor of history and director of the Roosevelt Center at Tulane University in New Orleans.
Harris is the author of “Pompeii,” a novel about the ancient eruption of Mount Vesuvius, and other historical thrillers. “Imperium,” his new novel, coming this fall, centers on the life of Cicero, as told through the eyes of his longtime assistant.
Kozak, an actress best known for her roles in “The Favor,” “Parenthood” and “Arachnaphobia,” is also the author of “Dating Dead Men,” a blend of romance, comedy and suspense.
Tickets for the patrons’ party and the dinner are $135. Dinner-only tickets are $80. For tickets, contact budnlyn@comcast.net or 303-795-7972.
