BTK serial killer Dennis Rader has chosen to end his appeal of his conviction and his sentence on 10 counts of murder, his lawyer said Monday.
Carl Maughan said Rader, 61, voiced his decision Monday at the El Dorado Correctional Facility, where Rader is serving his sentence. Rader last year pleaded guilty to 10 murders in and around Wichita from 1974 to 1991. He strangled most of his victims and called himself BTK, for “bind, torture, kill.” He was sentenced to 10 consecutive life terms.
Maughan declined to say why Rader decided to drop the appeal.
