The Champ Car World Series unveiled its 2007 schedule Wednesday and the Grand Prix of Denver is pegged for Aug. 17-19. The sixth street race around the Pepsi Center is the 12th event in a 15-race season, although more races could be added, the open-wheel series said.
The Champ Car World Series will also travel to China and Quebec and will open and close with new street events in Las Vegas and Phoenix.
Champ Car will make its first trip to China for a May 20 road-course race in Zhuhai, and will visit historic Mont Tremblant in Quebec on July 1. The Canada Day event will be followed by races in Toronto and Edmonton, Alberta.
CHL’s Eagles re-sign a top-10 all-time scorer
The Colorado Eagles of the Central Hockey League re-signed center Sean Robertson, the sixth-highest point scorer in club history, and added two other players, the team said Wednesday.
Robertson, 28, a 6-foot, 200-pound third-year player, scored 10 goals last season en route to the Eagles winning the Governors’ Cup as the team with the best regular-season record. Robertson’s 96 career points put him sixth on the team’s all-time list.
The Eagles also signed defensemen Craig Strain, formerly of the Victoria Salmon Kings of the ECHL, and Cramer Hickey of the University of Alaska-Fairbanks.
