Dark rides are fun any time of year, but with more and more theme parks offering special events at Halloween, they are even spookier in October.
The Darkride and Funhouse Enthusiasts organization polls its members each year on their favorite dark attractions. Among their top picks for dark rides for 2006 are the Haunted Mansions at both Disneyland in California and Disney’s Magic Kingdom in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney-MGM Studios in Florida, and Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland in Anaheim.
Also on the list: Revenge of the Mummy, Universal Studios in Orlando; Amazing Adventures of Spiderman at Universal’s Islands of Adventure in Orlando, and the Exterminator at Kennywood Park, West Mifflin, Pa.
Disney and Universal parks are open year-round, while Kennywood will remain open Fridays and Saturdays through Oct. 28.
