The gunman who held six girls hostage at Platte Canyon High School did not have illegal drugs, alcohol or antipsychotic medications in his system, officials say an autopsy revealed.
Duane R. Morrison, 53, was shot four times – twice in the head and twice in the upper body – said Lance Clem, spokesman for the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
The autopsy of 16-year-old Emily Keyes confirmed that she was killed by one gunshot to the head, Clem said.
The autopsies alone cannot determine who fired the fatal shots that killed Morrison and Keyes, he said. Ballistics tests will show which guns fired the shots. Those tests have not been completed.
About noon on Sept. 27, Morrison took six female students hostage, sexually assaulted them and released four girls before he killed Keyes.
Officials have said Morrison shot Keyes in the back of the head and then fired a bullet into his own head.
At the direction of the Park County district attorney’s office, the autopsy reports of Morrison and Keyes will not be released to the public, Clem said.
Park County District Attorney Molly Chilson did not return calls for comment.
The CBI criminal investigation of the shooting is continuing, Clem added.
