Patzy with a Z

Liza Minnelli is playing a Patsy Ramsey-esque character in an upcoming episode of the NBC hit “Law & Order: Criminal Intent.”

The story follows recent events in Boulder. Minnelli portrays a former beauty queen whose child-actress daughter was murdered on Halloween night 14 years ago.

The unsolved case gets new national attention when a pedophile confesses to the crime. The show will run during sweeps in November. Of course.

Minnelli was on “Today” Thursday talking about it. Meredith Vieira prompted Minnelli, saying that she plays a character “sort of like” JonBenét’s mom.

“But wackier,” says Minnelli.

“Wackier?” says Vieira. “That’s a stretch for you, isn’t it?”

“Oh, no,” says Minnelli.
