Colorado Springs – Harrison senior Fermin Vialpando died Friday night during a high school football game against Ridge View Academy.
The cause of death is not yet known, but those who were there said Vialpando just collapsed in the middle of the field during a play. Vialpando was taken to Colorado Springs’ Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Said Harrison athletic director Dave Hogan: “He was a good kid.”
Vialpando, a center, was a third-year starter for the Panthers. The game was called midway throught the third quarter.
