ATLANTA-

The lone survivor from the crash of a small airplane near a suburban airfield died early Saturday, bringing the death toll to four.

The single-engine Cessna apparently struck power lines immediately after taking off Friday morning from Berry Hill Airport at Stockbridge, 20 miles southeast of Atlanta, said Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen.

The only survivor, Bruce Byrne, 65, died Saturday at Grady Memorial Hospital, said the hospital’s night administrator, who would not give her name.

The plane was registered to Durwood C. Smith, 63, of McDonough, Ga., authorities said.

Smith’s mother-in-law, Elsie Crocker, said he and his wife Patricia, 61, and two friends had left for a day trip to St. Simons Island, between Brunswick and Savannah.

The Smiths were killed along with Linda Byrne, 60, police said in a statement.
