El Paso County deputies arrested a man this morning in connection with the shooting death of a 19-year-old man.
Anthony Marquez III, 22, faces a charge of first-degree murder as well as a second charge of first-degree murder during the commission of a robbery.
He is being held without bond at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center in the death of Jonathan Henry Smith, who was shot in the chest.
Deputies were called to 302 Quebec St. in Widefield at 6:51 p.m. Sunday. When they arrived, several people were at the home, including relatives and acquaintances of Smith.
Witnesses said an altercation happened in a room in the basement of the home prior to Smith being shot.
Sheriff’s deputies, along with the Colorado Springs Police SWAT team, arrested Marquez at 107 Arlen St., in Colorado Springs.
