COLORADO SPRINGS – El Paso County sheriff’s investigators arrested a man Monday morning in connection with the shooting death of a 19-year-old man.
Anthony Marquez III, 22, faces first-degree murder charges during the commission of a robbery, police said.
He is being held without bond at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center for the shooting of Jonathan Henry Smith, who was shot in the chest, police said.
Deputies were called to 302 Quebec St. in Widefield at 6:51 p.m. Sunday. When they arrived, several people were at the home, including relatives and acquaintances of Smith.
Witnesses said an altercation happened in a room in the basement of the home prior to Smith being shot in the chest, according to police.
Sheriff’s deputies, along with the Colorado Springs Police SWAT team, arrested Marquez at 107 Arlen St. in Colorado Springs.
