The new Woodward Skatepark in Lakewood is hosting a mountainboard competition Saturday, marking a rare wintertime comp for dirt surfers. Starting at 7 p.m., the jam-type comp will feature men’s and women’s pro competition as well as youth and open contests. As with all mountainboard contests, athletes will be judged on style and amplitude. This summer’s U..S. Open Mountainboarding Championship in Snowmass saw tremendous backflips with equally staggering crashes. Saturday’s street jam promises the same thrills for riders and spectators alike.
