The Colorado State men’s basketball team Wednesday signed Jesse Woodard, a 6-foot-1 point guard from Compton, Calif., to its roster.

CSU coach Dale Layer described Woodard, from Compton Centennial High School, as “a steal for us. He could probably play both guard positions but he’s a natural point guard.”

Also signing was 6-7 forward Shane Edwards, the latest addition from CSU’s Northeastern Junior College pipeline. He is averaging better than 20 points and 10 rebounds. “His athleticism is off the charts,” Layer said of Edwards and his 7-foot wingspan.
