A former teacher at Brighton Charter High School suspected of having sex with a 17-year-old male student turned herself in to authorities today.
Carrie McCandless, 29, was booked at the Jefferson County Jail in Golden and released on a $20,000 bond, said Jacki Kelley, a sheriff’s office spokeswoman.
McCandless has been charged in Larimer County with two felonies – sex assault on a child by a person in a position of trust and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The alleged assault took place in October during a school outing in Estes Park.
McCandless has been fired by the school.
