Mayor John Hickenlooper announced the creation of an architectural peer review panel for the Justice Center courthouse, answering concerns after the project lost the headlining architect.
Famed architect Steven Holl was removed from the courthouse project earlier this fall after a dispute over budget and design issues.
The loss of Holl stirred concerns that the $127 million courthouse would not be a “legacy project” some had expected.
The panel includes some architects already working on the project and several new ones, including Bruce Kuwabara of Toronto, John Ellis of San Francisco, Laurie Olin of Philadelphia and Lee Becker of Washington.
Each outside architect will receive $5,000 for his or her participation.
Justice Center policy manager James Mejia said the panel will be funded out of the original design contract.
