Telluride- A minor earthquake shook
homes near Telluride just after
noon Tuesday, according to the
U.S. Geological Survey.

The 3.3-magnitude quake hit
at 12:38 p.m. Its epicenter was
about 14 miles west of Ridgway,
according to geophysicist John
Bellini of the National Earthquake
Information Center in
Golden.

It s large enough for people
to feel 10 to 20 miles away from
the epicenter. It s not something
for people to be concerned
about, Bellini said.

Residents of Montrose, Placerville,
Ridgway and Telluride
told the USGS they felt motion.
Sheriff s offices in San Miguel
and Ouray counties had no reports
from residents.

Bellini said the USGS considers
quakes of this magnitude too
small to cause damage.
