Search and rescue teams are back out looking for a paraglider reported to have crashed near Grand Junction Monday, even though they’re not 100-percent sure one actually went down.
A man and his girlfriend told authorities they saw the paraglider crash Monday afternoon after flying over a Grand Junction assisted living center.
Three hours of searching by various agencies turned up nothing.
Durand McKibben, 42, told authorities he and his girlfriend watched the yellow and orange paraglider fly right over them, then descend. McKibben said the paraglider didn’t have enough altitude to clear the Bookcliffs east of Mount Garfield, and crashed as he tried to turn.
Authorities are also checking missing persons reports.
