RTD, mall discuss sharing shuttle cost
Officials from RTD and Park Meadows met Wednesday to consider sharing the cost of a frequent shuttle bus between the shopping mall and an RTD parking lot across Interstate 25 from the County Line light-rail station.
The County Line stop on the Regional Transportation District’s new southeast light-rail line overlooks Park Meadows, but there is no direct access to the mall from the train platform. Instead, rail riders trying to get to Park Meadows must cross a pedestrian bridge to the east side of I-25.
RTD spokesman Scott Reed said the transit agency is looking to split evenly the cost of operating two shuttle buses between the mall and transit lot, possibly in 15-minute intervals.

A blue Honda Pilot drove itself into the glass entrance of a business Wednesday after good Samaritans pulled the driver out following a crash.
The sport utility vehicle was probably still in gear after employees of All Tune and Lube at West 29th Avenue and Zuni Street helped the woman out of the Pilot, police and witnesses said.
The crash happened before 3 p.m. in the intersection when the SUV and an ASA Electric van collided.
An office manager at the business was hit in the head by a beam but was not seriously injured, Denver police Officer T.S. Stuehm said.
The occupants of both vehicles also were not injured.

Boy critical after being struck by car
A 7-year-old boy was struck by a car while crossing a busy Denver street Wednesday morning and was in critical condition at the Children’s Hospital, police said.
The boy suffered possibly a broken leg and other injuries, police said.
The accident happened about 11:30 a.m., when the victim was running behind another boy across East Louisiana Avenue near South Birch Street and was struck by a westbound white sedan, police spokesman Sonny Jackson said. The force of the collision sent the boy flying onto the hood of the vehicle, Jackson said.
The boys were not using a crosswalk and were crossing mid-block, Jackson said.
Police do not believe the motorist was speeding.
The driver of the vehicle stopped as soon as the boy landed on the hood of the car, Jackson said.

Dad locked up 6 kids overnight, police say
The adoptive father of six children is accused of locking them in his basement at night to keep them from running away or taking food from the pantry, authorities said.
William Fam, 59, faces six counts of child abuse and six counts of false imprisonment, all misdemeanors. He was issued a summons Tuesday.
Fam had no listed phone number.
Police Sgt. Howard Black said the children appeared well-nourished. He said the initial investigation showed they were locked up primarily overnight.
The four boys and two girls, ages 7 to 16, have been taken into custody by the El Paso County Department of Human Services.
Police said the basement rooms were equipped with video cameras monitored by Fam and his wife from upstairs.
No charges had been filed against Fam’s wife.
