The Colorado State volleyball team, led by Jaime Strauss’ 24 kills and 12 digs, defeated Texas Christian 3-1 on Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West Conference Tournament in Las Vegas.
The third-seeded Rams (18-9) defeated the sixth-seeded Horned Frogs (17-15) 33-31, 30-32, 30-28, 30-16 to advance to today’s semifinals. CSU will face No. 7 San Diego State, an upset winner over No. 2 Brigham Young, at 2:30 p.m. MST.
Katherine Whitney added 11 kills for the Rams and Tonya Mokelki chipped in 10. Ashley Fornstrom had a team-high 53 assists.
* No. 4 UNLV eliminated No. 5 Wyoming in the quarterfinals, winning in straight games 30-22, 30-25, 30-23.
