The Western Division-leading Colorado 14ers of the NBA Development League got 32 points from Rick Rickert and posted a 130-105 victory over the Eastern Division-leading Fort Worth Flyers on Saturday at the Broomfield Event Center. Colorado (6-2) is a half-game ahead of the Los Angeles D-Fenders. Elton Brown added 23 points, Von Wafer had 19 and Julius Hodge scored 13 for the 14ers. Fort Worth (8-2) remains atop the Eastern Division.
CHL’s Eagles down Rage, stay atop Northwest
Goaltender Marco Emond had 36 saves and the Colorado Eagles of the Central Hockey League got four power-play goals for a 5-0 win over the visiting Rocky Mountain Rage at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland. Colorado (19-4-0) stayed atop the CHL’s Northwest Division. Rocky Mountain (6-15-3) is winless in its past seven games.
The CHL on Friday announced Colorado Eagles coach Chris Stewart will lead the Western Conference team in the CHL All-Star Game on Jan. 17.
Stewart, who will coach his third CHL all-star team in as many seasons, earned the honor after leading the Eagles to the conference’s best winning percentage through Friday’s games. Laredo coach Terry Ruskowski will coach the Eastern Conference team. The game will be played in Bossier-Shreveport, La.
