The folks at Scarpa might want to change the name of their redesigned Tornado Pro alpine touring boots to the “Storm Troopers.” Beyond the “Star Wars” stylings of the boots, the culmination of Scarpa’s dual-injection Pebax molding will enable crossover skiers to stomp through the deepest snow. Much stiffer than last season’s Tornado, the Pro (MSRP: $649) is a performance alpine freeride boot that combines the comfort and versatility of a backcountry-specific touring boot. The Tornado comes with two tongues, Thermofit liners and remains the only rubber-soled boot that works in either AT or alpine bindings without changing a thing. Cuffs that extend slightly beyond vertical in “walk” mode quickly lock down for the descent along with four micro-adjustable buckles that provide plenty of power to drive your biggest boards.
