Spectranetics Corp., a Colorado Springs-based medical- device company, announced that its excimer laser system was recently used during a neurovascular surgical procedure for the first time in the United States, at New York’s Roosevelt Hospital.

AspenBio Pharma Inc., a Castle Rock-based biopharmaceutical company, has filed an Investigational New Animal Drug Application with the Center for Veterinary Medicine of the Food and Drug Administration to begin the approval process for StayBred, a drug that helps dairy cows increase milk production.

EPayments Corp., a electronic payment-processing and support-services company based in Denver, has acquired Mobile, Ala.-based Automated Check Recovery. The acquisition adds a substantial number of educational-services accounts to ePayments’ electronic check-collection business. Terms of the deal were not announced.

Aetna announced it is now selling health plans for individuals and their families throughout Colorado. The new Aetna Advantage Plans for Individuals and Families will allow consumers to purchase health insurance directly from Aetna or through independent insurance agents or brokers.

Enhanced Investment Technologies LLC, a subsidiary of Denver-based Janus Capital Group Inc., announced the launch of an international equity capability. The Intech international equity strategy uses international securities benchmarked to the Morgan Stanley Capital International Europe, Australasia and Far East Index.

Aspen Skiing Co. has been accepted into the Ceres network for its commitment to improving social and environmental performance and reporting. Aspen Skiing also has received three environmental awards, including the 2006 Green Power Partners of the Year from the Environmental Protection Agency, the First Choice Responsible Tourism Award from Lonely Planet and inclusion on the 2006 Condé Nast Greenlist of 12 green travel spots.

Tendril, a Denver-based provider of network operations platform software, has been named one of the top 10 emerging companies in the wireless industry by the editorial staff of Unstrung, a trade publication.
