4-legged fashion
Mules and donkeys will don delightful apparel, such as cartoon characters and four-legged cowboys, at the National Western Complex starting today.
The fun starts at 11 a.m. during the Draft Horse and Mule Performance Class shows. Fifteen mules are signed up to dress up.
Saturday at 1 p.m., it’s the donkeys’ turn, during the National Western Draft Horse and Mule Show. The show has six entries.
Saturday night at 7, nine mules will show off their parade attire during the second showing of the Draft Horse and Mule Show. Tickets are $12 for the matinee shows and $14 for the evening performances.
Buck stinks here
It’s an old joke, but it never fails.
Whenever one of thousands of children who attend the stock show each day steps off the school bus pinching his or her nose over the smell of the animals, there’s always a volunteer with the joke teed up.
“They’ll say, ‘Kids, that’s the smell of money,’ ” said volunteer coordinator Kellie Lombardi. “That’s my favorite thing.”
