In an effort to attract new retailers and promote existing businesses, the Downtown Denver Partnership has launched an ambitious new interactive map of the city’s core. Developers can use the website, experiencedowntowndenver.com, to shop for retail space, compare prices and locations, then scour the surroundings for amenities and competitors. Consumers can use it to search for such things as restaurants, entertainment, shopping, parking and mass transit.
“Lots of people haven’t been downtown in years, but this conveys a sense of cohesiveness, an organized retail area,” said developer John Simon, who helped develop Cherry Creek Shopping Center and Cherry Creek North while working with Taubman Centers.
The partnership started by cataloging existing businesses, leasable spaces, development sites and amenities such as parks, tourist attractions and even ATM machines. The website is its first step in an ongoing strategy to improve downtown’s shopping climate.
“Phase two will be to identify areas that present retail opportunities,” said Tami Door, the partnership’s president and chief executive.
